The Scarlets’ iconic Stradey Park scoreboard is to be rebuilt and used as the centrepiece of the new museum at Parc y Scarlets.
The Scarlets will move to their new home next season and have chosen to immortalise their most famous result on the old ground by permanently displaying the 9-3 victory over the All Blacks in 1972.

Gareth Davies, Managing Director of the Scarlets, said: “This is an important and very popular piece of our history that we will be taking with us to Parc y Scarlets. We wanted to ensure it is protected and admired by our supporters and visitors for years to come.

“It will be a centre piece of the new Ken Jones museum which will house a wide selection the Scarlets’ greatest treasures – some of which we have not had the opportunity to display publicly within the confines of Stradey Park.

“There have been offers from collectors and supporters to buy the famous scoreboard since we announced we were moving from Stradey Park but we would never want to part with it. Indeed we couldn’t put a price on something as iconic as that.

“The fact that it will be a permanent record of one of the Scarlets’ greatest ever victories just confirms our intention to make our new home a thriving tribute to our heritage as one of the world’s most famous rugby clubs.”

It is anticipated that the world famous scoreboard will be taken down from Stradey Park later this summer to start is short journey just a few miles away to the £23million new stadium in the Pemberton area of Llanelli.
