| Women's international rugby on offer |
| There is plenty of international rugby on offer over the Easter period. |
First up, on Easter Sunday at Sardis Road, Sweden Women are using a game against an Invitation XV (ko 2.30pm) as preparation for the upcoming European Trophy which is being used for World Cup qualification.
The Invitation XV is a mixture of players who have been involved in the recently completed Six Nations tournament and players who are now ineligible for Wales Under 20s. There is also a sprinkling of players who have not figured at the highest level for a while.
The side will be coached by Dan Cottrell who will be assisted by Ceri Wyatt. The duo will be overseen by Wales Women’s Head Coach Jason Lewis.
He said: “These one-off fixtures give us opportunities to look at a wider base of players and re-inforces the messages that we have said over the last couple of seasons that the national squad is not a closed shop and gives the players a chance to put their hand up for possible national squad selection.”
On Tuesday Wales Women’s Under 20s take on arch rivals England at Eirias Park in Colwyn Bay (ko 2pm).
Head coach Kylie Wilson is in confident mood as Wales seek to beat England at this level for the very first time
“The players recently recorded a comfortable victory over England Colleges at Llandovery but they know this game will be a different proposition altogether,” she said.
“This match gives us a great chance to see how much we’ve improved over the past few months. Our squad is stronger than ever, but playing England will be the test of just how good we are." |
